The Level 3 drill was carried out at 10:00 a.m. inside the Coatzacoalcos port facility. It consisted of simulating a chlorine leak from a tank car operated by Terminales Transgolfo (Ferrobuque). Internal evacuation alerts were activated for the concessionaires, with the objective of ensuring that the employees of each office and company located within the Port of Coatzacoalcos were directed to the designated assembly points.

The exercise was promoted by the federal entities: the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) and the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA), in coordination with CLAM.

In order to minimize damage to the population and the environment caused by chemical emergencies, through the implementation of tested and validated response plans, PROFEPA has promoted in our country, since 2012, the “National Day for Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Response” (DINAPREQ), which has been celebrated since its creation on the second Friday of July each year. This initiative has brought the benefit of greater awareness and understanding among the public, private, state-owned, and social sectors regarding the risks associated with chemical emergencies and the need to have tested and validated response plans.

Through these actions, ASIPONA Coatzacoalcos reaffirms its commitment to civil protection and safety standards.
