On the eve of the XXXI anniversary to be celebrated tomorrow, this Administration of the National Port System of Coatzacoalcos, S.A. de C.V., with great enthusiasm and in a festive atmosphere, carried out the official reopening of the renovated Coatzacoalcos Bicentennial Park and a completely new place for the conservation of iguanas, two important spaces dedicated to environmental preservation, ecological education, and community recreation.

The ribbon-cutting ceremonies were attended by distinguished civil and military authorities, including Vice Admiral Martín Zepeda Anguiano, General Director of ASIPONA Coatzacoalcos; Navy Captain Carlos Rojas Rodríguez; the Harbor Master, representatives of the Third Naval Zone, and various environmental centers.

Coatzacoalcos Bicentennial Park: located on Cerro del Gavilán in Villa Allende, Veracruz, was reopened after an intensive rehabilitation process. This ecological space is home to more than 450 specimens of 118 animal species, including endemic species of the region such as spider monkeys, Crocodylus moreletii, and other exotic species such as the leopard, as well as turtles, toucans, among others. It also preserves plant species such as the ceiba, xolotixochitl, and the ahuehuete, of which it has a descendant of the original Tree of the Sad Night.

The park functions as a conservation and production center, and promotes environmental education through tours, workshops, and its museum “Caminos del Agua.” It is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and offers free admission to all visitors.

Green area for the conservation of iguanas: With the commitment to the protection of species, simultaneously, a 300 m² space was inaugurated for the conservation of the green iguana and other endemic species outside the Coatzacoalcos Port Precinct. This project, with an investment of 18 million pesos, is equipped with fruit trees, ornamental plants, artificial tanks, and natural soil areas that ensure the well-being of the sheltered species.
