UNAPROP No. 33 will have new facilities inside the Port of Coatzacoalcos

Today, the cornerstone laying ceremony and the groundbreaking of the Naval Port Protection Unit No. 33 were held, a strategic project led by the Administration of the National Port System of Coatzacoalcos, with the objective of strengthening security in maritime and port facilities.

The protocol event was attended by distinguished civil and naval authorities, including Vice Admiral Martín Zepeda Anguiano, General Director of ASIPONA Coatzacoalcos; Mtro. Mario Alberto Limas López, Head of the Coatzacoalcos Customs Office; Harbor Master, Navy Captain Carlos Rojas Rodríguez; Navy Captain Cesar Castillo Castañeda, representative of the Third Naval Zone; Frigate Captain Sabino Marín Montes, Commander of the new naval unit; and Lic. Carlos Iturralde Espinoza, representing the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry, Coatzacoalcos delegation.



The Port of Coatzacoalcos, considered a key platform for national and international trade, requires specialized infrastructure that guarantees the security of maritime operations. Therefore, within the infrastructure development program, this entity has promoted this project to provide naval personnel with modern, comfortable, and functional facilities that will allow them to fulfill the mission of protecting the coasts and port areas.

Naval Port Protection Unit No. 33 will have: a three-level headquarters building for administrative and naval intelligence matters; a general services building with capacity for 230 personnel, which will include dormitories, dining hall, kitchen, exercise area, workshops, armory, parking lot, road circuit, and the projection of a heliport.

The estimated completion date for the project is July 2026. In addition, 392 direct jobs are being generated, which will represent an important boost for the local and regional economy. During the ceremony, it was highlighted that this new facility reaffirms ASIPONA Coatzacoalcos’ commitment to the security of its facilities, its users, and the port community, in close collaboration with the Secretariat of the Navy.
