API Coatzacoalcos, the largest cargo movement in the country

The Port Administration of Coatzacoalcos, S.A. de C.V., is the largest movement of total cargo in the National Port System with 3,056,694 MDT (January 2020), according to statistics released by the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine.



The foregoing was reported in the II Port Operations Committee, highlighting the increase in the movement of ships through the port, to a total of 137, while in the same month of 2019 only 133 vessels entered.

The greatest increase was registered in the port area of Coatzacoalcos with 13% more, the above increased the occupation of its docks from 37.1% in January 2019 to 47.1% in the same month of 2020.

In the Laguna de Pajaritos port area, the movement of oil and derivatives increased from 2,000 to 2.6 thousand tons compared to the same month the previous year, with a variation of 32.2%, while agricultural and mineral bulk decreased. However, the movements of various loads with 102 arrivals were maintained, the same as in the previous year.

The analysis of the volume operated by type of cargo, the port area of Coatzacoalcos reflects increases in agricultural bulk, fluids and intermodal cargo, while those of general cargo, containerized and mineral bulk decrease, but overall, there is a small upward trend when passing from 473,502 in January 2019 to 473,886 in January 2020.

By type of traffic, exports increased from 115.3 thousand tons to 76.5, decreasing imports from 303.0 to 281.7 without registering cabotage operations.
