Signing of the Collaboration Agreement Secretariat of Culture-CIIT

Today afternoon inside the Coatzacoalcos port area, the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, the Ministry of Culture, the Government of the State of Veracruz and the Government of the State of Oaxaca signed the Collaboration Agreement and the start of the Program for Strengthening Culture in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.


The agreement and start of the strengthening program were signed by: Lic. Alejandra Fraustro Guerrero, Secretary of Culture; Lic. Rafael Marín Mollinedo, General Director of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec; Ing. Cuitláhuac García Jiménez, Governor of the State of Veracruz, as an honorary witness, they were accompanied on the stand: Mtra. Karla Verónica Villacaña Quevedo, Secretary of Culture and the Arts of Oaxaca on behalf of the Governor of the State; Vice Admiral Francisco Vela García, representative of the Mexican Secretary of the Navy; Ing. Miguel Ángel Sierra Carrasco, General Director of the Comprehensive Port Administration of Coatzacoalcos, S.A. de C.V., and Eng. Víctor Manuel Carranza Rosaldo, Municipal President of Coatzacoalcos.



This agreement proposes the creation of public policies, strategies to strengthen and promote the most notable features of the two components of the region; the veracruzano lee and the oaxacan isthmus have similar characteristics, the strength, diversity and richness of their cultures, which must be preserved and even made more vigorous.



On the 10th and 11th of this year, a working group made up of collaborators from the Ministry of Culture and CIIT, together will make a tour of various municipalities in the states of Veracruz and Oaxaca, this will allow the implementation of management, preservation and dissemination actions of the cultural expressions of native peoples.

Among other objectives, the collaboration agreement aims to:

  • Promote respect and preservation of the living cultural heritage of the peoples historically settled in the areas where the activities that are the object of the interoceanic project will take place.

  • The preservation of the railroad heritage of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region.

  • The promotion of the artistic heritage of the region.

  • The rescue of uses and customs and cultural spaces of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

  • The alignment of sustainable development, from a human rights perspective of the UN 20-30 agenda.

  • The preservation of mother tongues of native peoples.

  • The detection of micro regions with potential for cultural and tourist circuits.
As part of the musical wealth of Veracruz, the international group Los Cojolites de Jáltipan de Morelos and Semillero Creativo de Laudería and Jarana de Cosoleacaque, enlivened the event with sounds and rhymes, typical of the southern part of the state.
The Port of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico's leader in bulk cargo, is shown as a fundamental piece in the gear for the development of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and is present in the cultural panorama of the region.
