Interoceanic Corridor of the Istmo de Tehuantepec, guarantor for the second automobile export.

The Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT) continues to consolidate itself as one of the most important logistical platforms in the country, by successfully completing the second interoceanic crossing for the export of 3,000 vehicles of the Hyundai and Kia brands destined for the east coast of the United States.

The Korean transnational companies Hyundai Motor America and Kia America, Inc. reaffirmed their confidence in the efficiency and security of the logistical infrastructure of the Interoceanic Corridor, using ASIPONA Salina Cruz and ASIPONA Coatzacoalcos as strategic nodes, linked through the Isthmus of Tehuantepec Railroad (FIT).

During the morning of Sunday, July 12, the first railway convoy arrived at the Port of Coatzacoalcos with 400 vehicles transported in Bi-Max railcars from the Port of Salina Cruz, as part of an operation that contemplates the total transfer of 3,000 units to the ports of Brunswick, Georgia, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on the east coast of the United States.

The vessel M/V Glovis Cougar, flying the South Korean flag, with a length of 199 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters, and a draft of 11.2 meters, docked at pier No. 5 of the Port of Coatzacoalcos to receive the cargo composed of 2,500 Hyundai vehicles and 500 Kia vehicles, which will be exported to U.S. territory. It is worth remembering that the vessel M/V Glovis Condor was previously in charge of transferring the units to the Port of Salina Cruz to initiate this logistical operation.

On behalf of Dr. Pedro Miguel Rosaldo García, Municipal President of Coatzacoalcos, the Directorate of Economic Development participated in the supervision tour of these maneuvers along with executives from Hyundai Glovis, the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, ASIPONA Coatzacoalcos, and ASIPONA Salina Cruz, where the operational efficiency achieved during the loading and transfer process was verified.

In addition to strengthening Mexico's foreign trade, this operation generates significant benefits for the region, including the creation of more than 300 indirect jobs, boosting the local economy and consolidating the Isthmus of Tehuantepec as a strategic corridor for the movement of goods between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

This second crossing gives continuity to the successful first transfer of 900 Hyundai vehicles, carried out at the end of March last year, confirming the versatility, efficiency, and reliability of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec as a competitive alternative for international trade.

With operations of this magnitude, the Interoceanic Corridor strengthens the strategic role of Veracruz and Oaxaca in global logistics, positioning the ports of Salina Cruz and Coatzacoalcos as key pieces in international supply chains and in the economic development of the south-southeast of Mexico.
